Stainless Steel IBCs

TRANSTAINER®  STAINLESS STEEL IBC TANKS

Transtainer stainless steel IBC tanks are a United Nations Approved & Dangerous Goods Approved tank.  Transtainer stainless steel IBCs are suitable for the handling, storage, and transport of bulk hazardous, non-hazardous, flammable, and combustible liquids, semi solids, full solids, and granulated commodities.  Transtainer IBC tanks are approved for Class I, II and III Dangerous Goods.

Transtainer stainless steel intermediate bulk containers are available from 500 to 2000 litre capacities, rated for up to 1.6 specific gravity fluids.  The tanks are a pallet footprint and 20 x 1000 L tanks can be transported in a standard 20 foot shipping container.

Stainless Steel IBC Compatibility and Use

Steel totes are engineered to be compatible with dense, heavy weighted, corrosive, acidic, caustic, inert, and reactive materials as well as food grade, consumable goods. They are utilized across a multitude of industries and operations due to their wide chemical, material, and application compatibility, as well as their robust design and intensive hygiene capabilities.

Examples of compatible materials and use scenarios for stainless steel intermediate bulk containers:

  • Chemicals and Solvents

Characteristics and Advantages of Stainless Steel IBC Tanks

Stainless steel metals have unique properties and advanced chemical resistance. Elemental chromium within the metal forms a protective chromium oxide film across container surfaces due to the reaction between chromium and atmospheric oxygen during manufacture. Due to the chromium oxide film, stainless steel IBCs require no further surface protection from corrosion. If the surface is damaged, the chromium oxide film will repair itself if oxygen is present.

Stainless steel IBC totes can have very long service lives, are highly portable and reusable, are easy to maneuver, fill, load, and discharge, and generally require very little maintenance aside from cleaning and inspection approvals. Successful stainless IBC lifespan can be more than 20 years, even when handling corrosive commodities, making these IBCs ideal long term, cost effective company assets. At service end, stainless IBCs are 100% recyclable, effectively limiting environmental waste and industry disposal costs
